Brand guidelines eLearning course

Situation

A small business owner hired me to deliver a workshop, website, and brand guidelines for her company. More on that project here. Because of the company’s small size, she frequently hired freelance designers to complete various marketing, web development, and graphic design work to increase business. She was spending too much time performing quality checks with the freelance designers and wanted them to know how to accurately represent her brand without having to hold their hand.

Approach

I designed and developed a 20-minute eLearning course for hired freelance designers and new employees, using Rise360, with the goal to reduce the audience’s learning curve and free up the business owner’s time. I wrote learning objectives and created an outline based on the existing brand guidelines I previously designed and developed. I incorporated activities that aligned with the learning objectives and kept learners engaged. Before sharing with the business owner, I conducted usability tests and revised the course based on feedback.

Outcome

When learners complete the eLearning course, Brand Course, they will be able to summarize the company’s brand and detect proper and improper uses of the brand’s voice, tone, and visual elements. Learners can also download the brand guidelines for a reminder of the course content and full technical details designers need to be successful, such as typefaces, brushes, and color values. More importantly, my client was able to spend more time with her clients and less time discussing her brand.
