Who loves planning? I do!
I just finished the boardomatic for fictional client Veruna.
I'm taking another School of Motion class, Explainer Camp. It's great! This one is focused on the entire process of creating an explainer video: creating a bid and schedule, pitching styles and story ideas, sketching it all out, designing production-ready boards, and animating the whole thing into a polished piece.
As leader of an in-house creative team, I'm pretty familiar with most of what we're being taught. However, to do it all yourself is quite a feat. As a planner, I really appreciate the time our instructor has taken to stress the importance of planning. We want to put the client's mind at ease as quickly as possible, and it's key to take the time to visually get on the same page so there's no rework or frustration down the line. To do this, we create visual scripts and style ideas, followed by storyboards, and then finally production-ready boards. Each of these get presented to the client in phases, all to ensure everyone's on the same page before animations begin.
Without further ado, here are some of the highlights for what it took to get to that boardomatic. Thank you, planning!
